Our 2010 Xmas Tour is based at Kingscliff on the far north coast of New South Wales. For 5 nights we will be staying at the delightful Mantra on Salt – a new beachfront resort just south of the Queensland Border. Located just 20 minutes from the southern end of the Gold Coast and close to the hinterland it’s a great base to relax and to do some local sightseeing. And on Xmas Day we will enjoy a full traditional Xmas Lunch at the resort.

Day 1 (LD): Port Macquarie to Kingscliff (Wednesday 22 December, 2010)
Welcome to our 2010 Xmas tour to Kingscliff. We depart Port Macquarie coach terminal at 8.30am and make our way north to Kempsey and Coffs Harbour. We continue through to Grafton where we have arranged a light lunch at the Grafton District Golf Club. From here this afternoon we continue north to Kingscliff – our base for the next 5 nights. (Light lunch included/dinner in the Resort)

Day 2 (BD): Exploring the Local Area (Thursday 23 December, 2010)
After breakfast the first part of the morning is free to take a walk along the Kingscliff Beach or perhaps enjoy a swim in the Resort’s Lagoon Pool. There is a heated rock pool and spa and even a Golden Door Day Spa in the nearby Salt Village. Mid morning we take a short sightseeing drive along the coast through Pottsville and Brunswick Heads to Byron Bay. Standing on a bald rocky headland with a precipitous cliff on the east side, and a sheer drop of approximately 100 metres, Cape Byron Lighthouse is the most easterly light in Australia, and one of the most powerful. After some free time in Byron we continue south, through Lennox Head and onto Ballina for our afternoon cruise on the Richmond Princess. It’s a comfortable flat bottomed boat that provides the ideal way for us to enjoy the beauty of the Richmond River. After our cruise we return to Kingscliff via the Pacific Highway. (Breakfast/lunch own arrangements & cost/dinner in the Resort)

Day 3 (BLD): The Tweed Valley (Friday 24 December, 2010)
This morning we are off to Tropical Fruit World where they grow and research the potential healthy uses of over 500 varieties of amazing tropical fruits to reveal a myriad of taste sensations and health and beauty secrets. Tropical Fruit World is not only one of the world's largest tropical fruit plantations and research parks, it has become an internationally acclaimed tourist attraction with an arresting collection of informative and enjoyable rides, shopping and gourmet dining experiences.
Next is a lunch cruise on the Tweed Endeavour. Most people have been to the Gold Coast but many haven’t seen some of the delightful little villages and unique local attractions just waiting to be discovered in the Tweed Valley. As an introduction to the area we have arranged a luncheon cruise from the historic village of Tumbulgum. On board Tweed Endeavour Cruises we will enjoy a sumptuous luncheon as we cruise back to the Coast, meandering alongside wild rainforests abundant in birdlife, then taking in the views of lush sugar cane fields and the rural farming land. We’ll also see the wild birds being fed. We then head back to the Resort for some free time before our Xmas Day celebrations tomorrow. (Breakfast & dinner in the Resort/Lunch cruise)

Day 4 (BLD): Xmas Day (Saturday 25 December, 2010)
We spend today at the Resort. Our Christmas Lunch will be a traditional one with all the trimmings and decorations that come at this festive time of the year. And what better place to be than on the beach at Kingscliff for a walk in the afternoon, or to relax and enjoy the Resort’s facilities. (Breakfast/Xmas lunch and light supper).

Day 5 (BD): Boxing Day – The Bangalow Markets (Sunday 26 December, 2010)
Today we are off to the delightful village of Bangalow to enjoy Bangalow Market Day. The North Coast of NSW is home to a culture steeped in rural traditions, with country towns and villages nestled in the lush green hills and valleys formed from ancient volcanoes. With Nimbin to the west and Byron Bay to the east Bangalow is in the centre of the counter culture. The village an historical treasure. The markets on the 4th Sunday of every month are a gathering of locals; a get-together of artists, artisans, bakers, victuallers, therapists, farmers and friends. We will hear the languages of people from far off lands, backpackers and celebrities alike. The Bangalow Market Day is a treat for day trippers - a retreat from the city, a window into another world. Part of the continuing success of the market is the beautiful grounds the markets are held in, which are dominated by eleven huge camphor laurel trees which provide welcome shade and rustling leaves and a magic forest atmosphere. Later in the day we visit a Pecan and Coffee Farm called Eltham Valley Pantry where they sell gourmet foods. We will enjoy afternoon tea and a guided tour of their operation. After a relaxing day we return to the resort for our final night on tour. (Breakfast & dinner in the Resort/Lunch own arrangements & cost)

Day 6 (BL): Heading Home (Monday 27 December)
Well its been a delightful stay but unfortunately today we need to head back to Port Macquarie. After farewelling our hosts we follow the Pacific Highway back towards Grafton. Our lunch stop today is at a fascinating place called Squatters Rest – a private museum at a little place called Tucabia. Surrounded by vintage tractors, engines and farm machinery there are 16 old style buildings including a replica 1880 cook house, where we will enjoy Australia best Camp Oven lunch, a tour of the fascinating range of rural memorabilia and some entertainment on the pianola for sing-a-long, great yarns and bush poetry. It will be a great way to finish our tour. We then head home arriving late afternoon to complete a sensational 6 day tour. (Breakfast in theResort/Camp oven lunch).
