Tuesday 03 August 2010 Tuesday 07 September 2010 Tuesday 12 October 2010 Tuesday 16 November 2010 Tuesday 14 December 2010
“BEST OF THE HASTINGS” This morning we tour Port Macquarie and the Hastings area. We depart the El Paso at 9.00am and tour the historical sites of Port including its oldest building, St Thomas' Anglican Church built by the convicts in 1826. We view the old Court House, Allman Hill, The Garrison building and historic town green. We then visit the Koala Hospital and view the great work done by volunteers. You can make a gold coin donation if you wish. We will have our morning tea here amongst the gum trees. Leaving Port behind us, we depart for Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills and the Camden Haven with spectacular views over the mid north coast from North Brother Mountain. From here we head for the timbertown of Wauchope. We have a tasting of the locally produced "Vickers Fudge"- alas no bullock show with the closure of Timbertown. Sorry....From here we visit the little historic village of Beechwood and have lunch in the local "real" pub. A chance to visit Beechwood Cellars with its quaint little display of timber-cutting photographs and artefacts. It is here that we can taste some of Eric's famous "Rambo" or "Brown Rat" ports. Mid afternoon we travel via Pembrooke and Telegraph Point to Tony & Carol Sarks famous "Ricardoe's Tomatoes and Strawberries" greenhouses. A little tour and time to pick or buy some of the home-grown produce. Last port of call today is Rod Pages Crystalline Pottery at Bonny Hills. Rod gives us a talk and demonstration on his unique style of pottery - again a chance to buy some of his products. Late afternoon we return to our hotel. Cost : $55.00 adults $50.00 pensioners
